Desktop Electric Utility Inspector

Remote, United States​​

POSITION SUMMARY

Execute image data analysis and evaluation of Electric Transmission, Electric Distribution, and Substation facilities for equipment damage and risk through desktop-based inspections. The Inspector may be responsible for providing direction, training, supervision, and guidance of other design staff of equal or lower grade as directed by supervision.​

 

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES

With minimal supervision, perform a variety of design-related duties, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Examine and record any abnormal conditions that are visible from the imagery (using image viewing software and a high-resolution monitor)

  • Record third-party caused conditions that could potentially pose fire, compliance, and safety issues.

  • Review abnormal conditions for high-priority tags and image quality.

  • Review imagery of field scenarios and recognize if there is a regulatory or compelling condition that needs to be addressed within the compliance program timeframe.

  • Provide training and technical support for peers.

  • Review quality findings to improve individual output and processes.

  • Share lessons learned and quality findings in a group setting to foster team success.

  • Achieve weekly production goals as defined by the project guidelines.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.​

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires 1-2 weeks of travel to California for training.​

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION

  • Experience in some combination of the following: (Electric Transmission & Substation: 2 years’ experience, Electric Distribution: 4 years’ experience).

    • Electrical lineman or similar

    • Electrical Designer

    • Electrical asset inspector

  • Must have a valid driver’s license + clean driving record.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

  • Must be able to complete a satisfactory background check.​

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in a technical or design field

  • Knowledge of the practices and procedures pertaining to overhead and underground Electrical inspection

  • Familiarity with utility Electric Distribution and Transmission construction standards

  • Proficient use and knowledge of computers and software applications
