POSITION SUMMARY
KLE is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled AutoCAD Drafter specializing in Substation Design to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating precise electrical system layouts, schematics, and construction documents for substation projects. This role offers an opportunity to work on complex electrical infrastructure designs, utilizing advanced CAD tools and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure system integrity and compliance with industry standards such as NEC. The position requires strong technical knowledge in electrical engineering and drafting, with a focus on system design, layout, and construction documentation.
 

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES

• Develop detailed 2D and 3D drawings of electrical substations using AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and Creo.

• Create schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout designs for electrical systems within substations.

• Collaborate with electrical engineers to translate system design specifications into accurate CAD drawings.

• Utilize Bluebeam and NavisWorks for review, markup, and coordination of project documents.

• Prepare construction-ready drawings compliant with NEC standards and industry best practices.

• Assist in designing electrical wiring layouts, PCB schematics, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) integration.

• Ensure all drawings meet project deadlines while maintaining high accuracy and quality standards.

• Support the review of system design documents and participate in project meetings as needed.

• Maintain organized CAD libraries and documentation for future reference.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven experience with AutoCAD is essential; familiarity with Revit, MicroStation, Creo, and NavisWorks is highly preferred.

• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including electrical systems, schematics, wiring diagrams, and system design.

• Knowledge of NEC code requirements related to substation construction and electrical wiring.

• Experience with drafting for construction projects involving electrical systems or substations.

• Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into accurate CAD drawings.

• Familiarity with PCB design, layout design, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and electrical wiring is a plus.

• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.

• Effective communication skills to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

• Prior experience working on electrical or substation projects is preferred but not mandatory. This position offers a dynamic work environment where technical expertise in CAD drafting, combined with electrical engineering knowledg,e will contribute directly to critical infrastructure projects. EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS
Associate Degree in a technical or design field preferred

· Must have 2+ recent years of experience creating engineering drawings for electrical facilities in AutoCAD

· Must have a valid driver’s license + clean driving record.

· Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

· Must be able to complete a satisfactory background check.

$27.00 - $35.00 per hour
